RAFAEL TORAL SPACE COLLECTIVE 3 plays MOON FIELD
Exploratory music pioneer in Portugal since the late 80s, and a proudly recurrent act at OUT.FEST, Rafael Toral will present a special show dedicated to ‘Moon Field’, his recent release on Room 40 (the label run by Lawrence English which has been keeping the torch lit for some of the most idiosyncratic musicians of the past few years).
This formation (a trio with Toral, Ricardo Webbens and Riccardo Wanke) covers a territory largely defined by a sort of atomized modal jazz and informed by Toral's research into pure electricity and unusual phrasing – one that is free as a bird and lives in between chords and silences; a gateway to a new reality where all that is natural, analogue and digital comes together seamlessly.
With each passing year, and for a quarter of a century now, Rafael Toral has been an essential artist in story of the great evolution of electronic music worldwide – and the live presentation of ‘Moon Field’, accompanied by the video projection of Rui Toscano’s beautiful drawings which are featured on the record cover, promises to be yet another beautiful, revolutionary chapter.
