Van Ayres

Van Ayres is currently preparing to launch “ Sorry Stars” , and having followed young Rafael’s solo shows in Lisbon (as well as the work of his duo with Rabu Mazda), his debut album is cause for our full attention. Driven by a lust for being alive and able to express himself creatively in whichever direction his intuition drives him towards, his music tends to reflect his artistic ideas and life experience with a delirious edge, rather than an activist or corporatist one. He is also keenly aware of the sustainability of his work in comparison with currently in-vogue cultural consumption patterns, being in sync with gaps in the state of things, places, rules and drawing from those gaps to bring together aesthetic and social practices in the age he lives in and must live out.
